EnaTex ESG Lecture Series

The Asian Textile and garment industry is of high importance to provide work and thus welfare for the local society. However, the social and environmental negative impacts of the textile and garment industry are criticised worldwide. A major sustainable transformation is on the horizon, spurred by regulations and legislation around the world. With the EU Green Deal, a set of new regulatory requirements has been developed to enhance sustainability by textile products entering the EU markets. e.g. due diligence guidelines addressing human rights, guidelines addressing greenwashing and reporting, regulations to introduce a Digital Product Passport.

The Indonesian industry is one of those that offers good working conditions – by global comparison. But is it sufficiently prepared to respond to the new demands of the European market? This lecture series prepares for the upcoming regulations of the EU, and wants to support companies to prepare for a sustainable change.
